Become a Principal Manager, Cost Recovery at SCE and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll oversee and direct major California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)-related cost recovery and ratemaking efforts and policy, including leading cost recovery proceedings. You will provide strategic direction to executive management on decisions regarding all aspects of SCE’s recovery of costs and revenue requirements, including the design and establishment of various ratemaking mechanisms. In addition, you will also oversees the calculation of revenue requirements totaling $18 billion used to set rates for SCE’s five million customer accounts. You will work with senior attorneys, directors, and officers within SCE and various external stakeholders including CPUC Energy Division staff on a routine basis. This role is essential to ensuring SCE obtains timely recovery of its costs and achieves utility financial health performance goals.

  • Direct the development of CPUC-jurisdictional revenue requirements and ratemaking mechanisms so that reliable forecasts and testimony are submitted to the CPUC. This includes leading and overseeing the consolidated rate changes and the establishment and operation of all balancing and memorandum accounts.

  • Direct the development of accurate and timely revenue requirement forecasts, system average rate forecasts, and revenue budgets for use both internally and externally.

  • Guide, oversee and support key cost recovery proceedings to help ensure successful recovery of historical and forecast costs and procurement-related costs are achieved in a timely manner, including: Energy Resource Recovery Account (ERRA) Forecast, ERRA Review, Catastrophic Event Memorandum Account (CEMA) Applications, Wildfire Cost Recovery Applications, etc.

  • Actively raise awareness/visibility, engage in and lead/support affordability strategy/policy development and implementation to help minimize the near-term impact of rate increases and/or support customer acceptance of near-term rate impacts to ensure a successful implementation of SCE’s Pathway 2045 vision.

  • Cultivate a work environment that prioritizes physical and psychological safety, work-life balance/flexibility, teamwork and accountability.Lead efforts to develop, and advocate for, SCE’s positions to ensure full and equitable cost recovery with internal and external stakeholders and decision makers, including all levels of SCE executive management and CPUC Energy Division management and CPUC Commissioner advisors.

The essentials

  • Seven or more years of experience managing an organizational unit or team and/or project management.

  • Experience with regulatory proceedings, managing filings, GRC/ERRA and/or regulatory processes, including utility ratemaking.

  • Experience in drafting testimony, comments, data requests and/or testifying, etc. before the CPUC.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • Five or more years of project management, policy development, analytical work or related experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience communicating complicated technical issues in a succinct manner both orally and in written form.

  • Experience presenting to and influencing senior management.

  • Experience in complex problem solving and critical thinking.

  • Ability to work well under time constraints, adjust to changing priorities, organize a heavy workload, work well in a team environment, and perform with minimal supervision.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
