IT Analyst, Business Solutions (Hybrid)

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.

Our Team

The Business Solutions Analyst (BSA) in this role will act as a liaison between multiple business areas and IT, and will curate a detailed understanding of those business area’s processes, goals, and objectives.The BSA works closely with the business partners to understand their needs and collaborates withappropriate ITpartners to resolve issues and suggest business solutions. They will be actively involved in the entire lifecycle of products in this space, including both capital projects and operational support, and ranging from project initiation and planning, to designing and implementingnew solutions, tomodifyingand maintaining existing systems, to product replacement and retirement. They may serve as Product Owner on one or more Agileprojects, andwill be the first IT point of contact for technology-related issues, ideas, and initiatives.

The BSA will report to the Product Line Manager, who will provide high-level direction to align on priorities and goals, and will provide support as needed, but within those guidelines, the BSA will have a high degree of autonomy.The BSA will be expected to work proactively toidentifyissues,problem solve, and bring workable solutions to the table. This role willengagedirectly with IT management, software development teams, technical product support teams, IT architecture and security, and external vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of technology-based solutions. 

Responsibilities include collecting and refining business requirements for new and/or enhanced products, services, or optimized business processes, translating those requirements into functional and technical requirements and/or user stories and acceptance criteria, and then collaborating with IT technical staff and business clients to bring solutions through design, build, testing, and implementation. This position consults in IT strategy and planning, workflow and process design, and product solution development.The BSA is aleader, andplays a key role throughout the full application lifecycle for small and large development projects.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Agilemethodologyand associated tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and/or other Agile applications.
  • Experience with conducting business process analysis and the creation of current/future state process modeling.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including O365, Teams, One Drive, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Competency using modeling tools like Visio, Miro, or others to create process flow diagrams, swim lane diagrams, data flow diagrams, and various system and integration diagrams.
  • Experience using decision-making tools and techniques like cost/benefit analysis, SWOT analysis, decision matrix, pareto analysis, etc.
  • Solid understanding of key factors involved in prioritizing work for IT initiatives and operationalsupport

  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and application development methodologies; hasparticipatedin a large project; has led the business analysis on a large-scale complex project.

  • Ability to lead small high performing teams to deliver successful outcomes.

  • Understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) – specifically demand management best practices and controls.
  • Understanding and knowledge of IT standards and controls.
  • Knowledge of financial and cost models and budgeting.

_Essential Functions: _

Nature and scope of the work:

  • Performs analysis of business processes and workflows in support of requirements gathering and process optimization efforts
  • Evaluates business processes,anticipatesrequirements, uncovers areas for improvement, andfacilitatessolution development andimplementation
  • Captures, analyzes, and documents business and user requirements and user stories in support of a variety of projectmethodologies
  • Ensures solutions meet business needs andrequirements

  • Require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand theproblem
  • Typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis ofissues

Expertise/leadership functions:

  • Acts as a thought leader to shape and influence the development of IT roadmaps for an assigned businessarea
  • Identifiesopportunities to improve current business and IT processes and acts as a champion for change within their assigned business area ofresponsibility
  • Monitors industry activities and leads others in learning opportunities for their assigned business area andidentifiespotential solutions and new findings including bestpractices
  • Mayparticipateand/or lead others in the development of user documentation and manuals, training materials and/or job aids, when necessary
  • May coach and mentor junior team members
  • May act in a lead role on small or mid-sizedinitiatives

Communication and collaborationrequired:

  • Leads andfacilitatesmeetings and communications between IT and an assigned business area, and informs team members on ongoing discussions with thebusiness
  • Works with the business and technical teams to document, analyze, and prioritize proposed bug fixes and enhancementrequests
  • Responsible for development of business cases and estimate creation for capital projects and other initiatives and leads the presentation of said cases to the Project Management Office (PMO) and Finance
  • Coordinates project and operational support activities between technical teams, business clients, and external vendors and suppliers

Experience:

This position requires some combination of the following:

  • A minimum of 3 yearsdemonstratedexperience providing IT product support in analytical and product-centric roles like Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Business Solutions Analyst, Product Owner, and Product Manager
  • A minimum of 3 yearsdemonstratedexperience in one or more relevant business domain, including:

Supply Chain

Procurement

Material Planning & Logistics

Accounts Payable

Real Estate Management

Facility Operations

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education

  • Preference will be given to candidates with IT product support experience supporting one or more of the above-listed business domains.

  • Experience using Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid approaches is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the utility industry is a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting Maximo or similar enterprise asset management software is a plus.
  • Prior experience supportingAribaor similar procurement software is a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting building management systems is a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting real estate management applications is a plus.

Education:

  • RequiresBachelor’s Degree, preferably in a technical discipline or a relevant business fieldor related experience.

Certifications and Licensing:

  • Azure AZ-900 certification is aplus
  • Certification in business analysis, product ownership, and/or Agile or Waterfall project management approaches would be a plus - including but not limited to:

  • SAFeProduct Owner/Product Manager (POPM)

  • PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PBA)
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • IIBA Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA)
  • IIBA Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA)
  • IIBA Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP)
  • IIBA Agile Analysis Certification (AAC)
  • IQBBA Certified Foundation Level Business Analyst (CFLBA)
  • IREB Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE)

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment asrequired
  • Must be available to travel between CT, MA, and NH asnecessary

Compensation and Benefits

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is 108,370.00 to $120,410.00 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.
