The Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty team is a globally distributed engineering team aiming to bring the power of the Microsoft Public Cloud to the unique challenges of public sector workloads with strict government compliance & security requirements. Responsibilities

We are looking for people with a passion for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and experiences working with all service aspects of high throughput and multi-tenant services, ability to design components carefully, properly handle errors, write clean and well-factored code with good tests and good maintainability.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Develop highly scalable, secure, reliable and composable services and components.

  • Prototype and iterate on new components and customer-innovation AI focused features.

  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to understand user requirements.

  • Use product development proven practices, deliver on scale and performance requirements.

  • Contribute to continuous improvements, including metrics & test automation of deliverables.

  • Maintain operations of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis.

  • Verify service architecture meets security and compliance requirements and expectations.

Qualifications

Required / Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred /Additional Qualifications (Optiona l , at HM disc retion)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ years of experience with designing globally scalable, secure, and compliant (cloud) services. 

  • Experience in python, pytorch, large language model, and generative AI. 

  • Experience building knowledge graphs and domain specific ontologies  

  • Experience in indexing technologies/semantic search.  

  • Passion for machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science. 

  • Experienced with technical design, problem solving and debugging

  • Experience monitoring, testing and supporting online services 

  • Experience with building services in regulated industries such as FSI, Defense & Security or Public Sector

  • Interest in improving engineering systems & practices and creation of high-quality software

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
