MKS Instruments Inc SENIOR ELECTRONIC ENGINEER in Wilmington, Massachusetts

As a SENIOR ELECTRONIC ENGINEER at MKS Instruments, you will partner with cross functional technical teams to drive designs of new and sustaining engineering solutions that supports multiple products and technologies spanning five different product families. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager of New Product Introduction and Product Engineering.

You Will Make an Impact By:

Assume engineering responsibility for supporting the Remote Plasma Source, Ozone, IR Spectroscopy and Microwave product lines products within the Plasma and Reactive Gas business unit.

  • Performing system and board level testing to validate that products meet design goals and specifications.

  • Developing, documenting, and executing design verification testing.

  • Participate in technical teams to review, and implement various electronics designs, concepts and solutions.

  • Reporting result and recommending appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost.

  • Supporting products in volume manufacturing by hands-on troubleshooting of problems and failure analysis of returned units.

  • Creating and reviewing design Engineering Change Orders (ECO) as needed to support new product development and sustaining engineering needs.

  • Participating in cross-functional project teams during design reviews and problem solving exercises to achieve product design goals.

Skills You Bring: (Required Skills)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in an electrical engineering and/or product engineering role.

  • The ability to use tools such as oscilloscopes, high voltage probes, power meters, etc. to successfully and independently test and debug circuits.

  • The demonstrated experience creating and executing design verification test plans.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with system and board-level failure analysis.

  • Experience with resonant tank circuits, Radio Frequency (RF) inverters, and DC/DC converters.

  • Knowledge of electronics reliability validation and testing.

  • General familiarity with Institute of Printed Circuits (IPC) standards.

  • Prior experience with leading cross-functional engineering projects.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Able to travel approximately 5% annually as needed to support customer installed equipment.

  • Light lifting of bench top equipment, sitting and standing during testing, computer work at desk.
