The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:

This is a Student Co-op position located in Saginaw, MI. This product engineering position supports the Columns and Intermediate shafts / Adjacent Markets Application group.

• Support Engineers in gathering, processing, and reviewing data

• Assist in creating parts lists, prototype orders, and procuring components for prototype builds

• Work with CAD designers to develop component or assembly drawings

• Assist in prototype assembly builds

• Work with hand tools and test equipment to complete experimental testing

• Create presentations to communicate results using Excel and Powerpoint

• Coordinate with Engineers for timely completion of development and validation activity

• Effective communication of project status and relevant issues

• Coordinate with outside suppliers and internal customers

• Assist or perform driving / evaluating steering systems for software validation on boats and sxs vehicles as needed.

  Requirements:

• Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw

• Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering

• Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters

• Up to 40 in the summer

• Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale

• Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters

• Demonstrated attention to detail and documentation.

• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.

• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

• Technical knowledge of mechanical/engineering principles

• Knowledge of product design process and/or tooling and manufacturing processes preferred

• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multiple activities

• Commitment to a disciplined approach on projects

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written

• Knowledge / Expertise in the following: Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint

• Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship.

• Completion of boaters safety (can be completed after start date)
