TEKsystems Mid Level Juniper IP Core Engineer Remote in Phoenix, Arizona
TEKsystems is seeking a Remote Network Engineer for our Alaska based client.
This position will sit 100% remote working typical Alaska business hours 7-4 / 8-5 AKT Monday - Friday
This role is equivalent to M id Level Network Engineering position. It envolve engineering, planning, design, equipment evaluation, project management, installation specifications, and test & acceptance for existing and advanced networks to ensure cost effective enhancements and upgrades to meet network requirements.

- As a relatively small group, the Network Engineer will not be silo'd into routine work. Rather, they will need to be able to actively participate in all areas of network engineering.
Experience Level: Expert Level Responsibility:
Main responsibility will be writing technical workorders with clear goal, vision and detailed step-by-step instruction to complete complex work
Confuguration, implementation and managing Layer2 and Layer3 VPN network solutions
Monitoring and maintaining new and existing BGP peering for internet traffic
Designing and implementing new DIA/IP-Transit services
Basic understanding for FTTX to deploy and support dual stack subscriber management
Implement and support QoS based converged data/voice network
Support Solarwinds and various industry leading NMS for 24X7 NOC monitoring and integrity of core network/services
Strong team player attitude to communicate/collaborate/support multiple teams
Willing to work on-call troubleshooting with other team members and network techs
Able to evaluate, analyze and validate new technologies with carriers/vendors
Create and maintain complete technical documentation
Help drive and support automation for complex processes/workflows
Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
Should be able to multitask with multi-project assignments
The engineer shall work in close collaboration with Inside Plant Engineering group, Network Planning, Outside Plant Engineering, and Operations.
SPECIFIC TASK DESCRIPTION
Engineer and implement network enhancements in a cost-effective manner using sound professional business approaches. Perform cost/benefit trade-offs.
Provide engineering and technical expertise and support for both internal and external customers.
Plan, develop, design, and manage network projects in conjunction with capital plan and customer demand.
Evaluate network security issues when designing a network and in conjunction with the Information Security Office recommend and implement changes to minimize network security concerns.
Evaluate and recommend new, advanced technologies (both software and hardware platforms) that will be most cost-effective in meeting network service requirements.
Maintain inside plant records and drawings for facilities.
Initiate a positive interface with all departments to facilitate the timely completion of work assignments.
Plan overall equipment layouts in central offices and remote facilities. Coordinate growth and maintenance concerns with Buildings Engineering, OSP Engineering, and CO Maintenance.
Projects are engineered according to acceptable industry standards.
Evaluate demand forecasts, sales and market forecasts, mandates, and technology evolution, and be able to apply these requirements to successful network design.
Maintain professional contact with suppliers, vendors, trade organizations and other peer groups to stay current in technology changes and trends affecting the Telecom field.
Effectively research and present technical material verbally and in written form to both technical and non-technical audiences.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Active JNCIA - IP certification preferred.
5+ years’ experience in network planning, design and implementation
Knowledge of routing, switching and firewall systems
Experience of OSPF, ISIS, BGP and MPLS
Technical understanding of Juniper/Nokia hardware and configurations
Familiarity of WDM Transport systems
Preferred Additional Qualifications (knowledge of/familiarity):
MEF standard-based service for Layer2 and Layer3 Circuits
QoS and Firewall Policy for scalable deployment
Access transport and service technology (FTTH, VoIP, Pseudowire T1 and DSL)
Segment routing and traffic engineering
Application servers (DHCP, DNS, radius, and LDAP) to support various services
AC/DC power systems
