Job Description

Mission Statement

Core Responsibilities

  • Supports the Director, Strategic Planning in the pursuit of advancing ESG strategy and facilitate ESG discussion with Investor Relations, EH&S, Corporate Affairs and other relevant company groups.

  • Is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of the Company's sustainability efforts and ESG-related strategic initiatives.

  • Develop workstreams and work with respective ESG/sustainability data owners to develop and enhance internal controls and reporting process as part of the disclosure processes, in line with the financial controls (e.g., SOX).

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to streamline existing ESG reporting and due diligence efforts across the business globally to feed into and inform the ESG impacts, risks and opportunities assessment.

  • Gathers and continually updates comprehensive material relating to the Company's financials, operations and strategies as it relates to ESG.

  • With Investor Relations, interacts with and builds positive relationships with internal departments as customers and as resources.

  • Represents the Company in a positive and effective manner for ESG at relevant analyst conferences, industry meetings, financial seminars, and workshops; exhibiting behavior consistent with the Company's code of conduct and other policies.

  • Provides senior management and Investor Relations with accurate, timely feedback related to discussions on the Company's business and sustainability strategies.

  • Prepares and distributes ESG rating reports on Con Edison from external rating agencies

  • Show strong understanding of the ESG regulatory developments (including but not limited to the SEC Climate Disclosure, SASB, GRI, TCFD, EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), SBTi, or any NYS or CA climate disclosure laws).

  • Prepares and delivers presentations to internal audiences, e.g. expanded staff meetings, on performance of ESG developments, and other relevant and timely topics.

  • Responsible for supervision and oversight of contracts related to services provided for various functions of the sustainability programs, including proper contract management in accordance with Corporate Instructions, Policies and Procedures.

  • Must strictly adhere to SEC Regulation/financial disclosure rules regarding and any other such regulations governing the full disclosure of Company information to the public.

  • Develop and manage employee resources (initially two in total) for success in ESG strategy and sustainability areas.

  • With Investor Relations, prepares senior management for ESG presentations and provides Talking Points based on anticipated questions from the financial/investor community about Company strategy, operational performance and relevant ESG developments.

  • Responds to and provides timely information to Investor Relations on ESG matters.

  • Responsible for the preparation and publication of the Company's annual Sustainability Report and standardized ESG reports/disclosures.

  • Stays abreast of developments in ESG reporting standards, ESG matters, and other developments.

  • Coordinates the Company-wide responses to sustainability surveys in conjunction with Investor Relations, Environment, Health and Safety and other such surveys as appropriate.

  • Prepares and distributes periodic reports to senior management and the Board of Directors on the Company's ESG rankings relative to peer companies and pertinent indices; report out to the SEOS Committee of the Board annually (and as requested).

  • Act as lead liaison between Company and ESG research firms and as such analyzes research findings and ratings, and pinpoints factual errors and omissions.

  • Maintains the Company's Sustainability websites. Gathers necessary information from internal organizations to keep the website content current and pertinent. Reviews and recommends innovative and creative alternatives and solutions that enhance the accessibility of information to website visitors.

  • With Investor Relations, support the preparation of PowerPoint presentations for ESG outreach meetings with the financial community.

  • Work with Financial Reporting on providing data and information for any climate-related disclosures in the Company financial documents (e.g. 10K, 8K), as a result of requirements of the SEC Climate ProposalResponsible for setting agenda, scheduling, and coordinating the Company's executive ESG Committee.

  • Represents the Company on various external committees (e.g., the EEI and AGA ESG committees, as well as other outside organizations involved in ESG).

  • Tracks and analyzes ESG ratings of the Company and peers and review /enhance public disclosures accordingly.

  • Conduct benchmarking efforts for effective practices in the energy industry and on a wider basis.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related to a sustainability, climate risk, or environmental field. and a minimum of 8 years work experience including at least 3 years in a sustainability-related or financially-related area (including but not limited to accounting, corporate finance or capital markets) or

  • Master's Degree in engineering or business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related to a sustainability, climate risk, or environmental field. and a minimum of 6 years work experience including at least 3 years in a sustainability-related or financially-related area (including but not limited to accounting, corporate finance or capital markets)

Relevant Work Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of work experience (e.g., energy industry or ESG-related) including some exposure to engineering and /or sustainability or climate disclosures. Required

  • Excellent oral and written communications and inter-personal skills. Required

  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office: Teams, Excel, Word, Power Point. Required

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize based on risks and business needs. Required

  • Understanding of strategic, operational, risk, and financial implications of sustainability, climate, and/or other ESG trends and impacts. Required

  • Knowledge of finance. SEC disclosures and capital markets. Preferred

  • Experience leading/supervising a team. Preferred

  • Project management experience Preferred

  • Compliance management and climate disclosure experience. Preferred

  • Experience in implementing a compliance program in a department or across a company. Preferred

  • Creative and strategic thinker and unable to work in uncertain and dynamic environments. Preferred

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
