Core Responsibilities

  • This is a technical role with functional responsibility to apply your network technology knowledge, skills, and foundational expertise to support our corporate, data centers, and control center networks.

  • You will collaborate with and learn from an experienced network engineer who will provide guidance, feedback, and mentoring on your tasks and projects. You will follow best practices and standards established by the senior network engineer and report to them on your progress and challenges.

  • You will work with technical staff to monitor, troubleshoot and support all facets of the network technologies including LAN and WAN networking, Cisco Wireless network, Cisco UCS and Nutanix datacenters, departmental VLANs, encompassing 100+ sites within NYC, Westchester and Orange and Rockland

  • Monitor and address infrastructure alerts, track incidents and support timely problem resolution; adhere to operating policy and procedures

  • Participate in the device upgrades, replacements, and support network technologies

  • Support network management, monitor tool maintenance and assist with use case automation

  • Must be flexible and able to work off-hours as required to support deployments, resolve production problems or respond to corporate emergencies

  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering and (2) years of IT experience or

  • Associate's Degree Preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering and (4) years of IT experience or

  • High School Diploma/GED and (5) years of IT experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, Business, or applicable degree

  • Associate's Degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, Business, or applicable degree

Relevant Work Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of network protocols, architectures, and security principles

  • Experience with Cisco IOS based routers, switches, Wireless APs

  • Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools and software; proficiency in network devices configuration and administration

  • Knowledge in Cisco Command Line Interface (CLI)

  • Knowledge of network automation tools and scripting, Powershell, Java, XML, Git, Azure DevOps

Skills & Ability

  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills

  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments

  • Demonstrated written communication skills

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

  • Other: CCNA, CCNP highly desirable

Physical Demands

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds

  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday

  • Possess manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for the duration of the workday

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.

  • Must be able to participate in the Company's emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
