Regional South Business Partner

The Finance Business Partner delivers financial and commercial support to key stakeholders, driving optimal business decisions and delivering better financial and commercial performance.

FND is the unit that undertakes the scale fibre build, connects and serves our Ethernet customers, and looks after our National Infrastructure which involves enabling our CPs to use passive infrastructure access (“PIA”), managing safety programmes, and driving income from operations such as copper recovery. It’s a varied unit, with an exciting place at the heart of the Openreach mission.

Network Delivery is the unit that delivers Ethernet connections, enables our new sites to get fibre services, and other important connectivity programmes. The unit has a substantial engineering workforce, split into regions, and manages a critical customer area.

This role partners with the business to deliver successful financial outcomes, challenging but deliverable plans, and helps drive sound commercial and financially astute decisions and actions. You will be responsible for one of the areas within Network Delivery.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Provide commercial and financial support for business cases within the FND organisation, focusing on the South regional director patch. Influence financial decisions within the team by offering comprehensive financial and commercial insights.

Engage in effective communication and stakeholder management. This involves interacting with stakeholders in operational teams responsible for the delivery programmes, as well as other key stakeholders across various teams. Collaborate with commercial, operational, and transformation/innovation teams to comprehend and model the long-term delivery plan, offering financial insights for decision-making processes.

Responsible for monthly reporting, outlook, and the MTP (Medium-Term Plan) for the Regional Director. This encompasses a comprehensive range of financial responsibilities, linking operational metrics such as productivity and volume delivery to financial performance

Regular face-to-face engagement with operational teams is essential. This includes identifying risks and opportunities and driving actionable improvement plans.

Provide supportive reporting and analysis to facilitate evaluation processes and enable the team to effectively utilise and balance direct labour (DL) and subcontractor capacity.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Great stakeholder management skills.

  • Fully qualified accountant / Further qualification to support specialism with significant PQE.

  • Experience of positively influencing business performance, by using data, commentary and analysis to inform judgement making.

  • Pragmatic team player, adept at holding others to account through a challenging and supportive leadership style, whilst consistently delivering on their own commitments.

  • Sponsors/guides the planning, facilitation and completion of FD sponsored finance programmes.

  • Leads, champions and manages conflicting priorities with ownership of successful delivery of key organisation-wide finance programmes.

  • Sets agendas, identifies opportunities and promotes the highest standards of best practice and provides insight on finance work area(s) or specialism.
