Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for a Director, Large Molecule Global Engineering Projects within the Manufacturing Technical Operations (MTO) organization at Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine. This position is located in Horsham, PA.

As an industry-leading expert, the Director, Large Molecule Global Engineering Projects provides guidance to project teams and workgroups, offering overarching leadership in implementing new technologies and recommending improvements to enhance engineering efficiency. This role also involves significant technical leadership responsibilities. Moreover, the individual will play a crucial role in nurturing future talents by mentoring both internal and external engineers and scientists.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for project management for projects in the $1-10 million range. Manages project team members during project execution and oversees multiple outside vendors and contractors.

  • Accountability for delivering advanced engineering, design, and construction solutions for manufacturing facilities, systems, and equipment.

  • Spearhead the discovery and development of new engineering standards for advanced technologies across the platform.

  • Collaborate with the MSAT Platform head to ensure alignment with technology standards, project execution for technical transfers and new product introductions, and engineering specifications for manufacturing technology.

  • Offer technical support for Global Business Development by leading technical assessments for L&A/M&A business development opportunities.

  • Assessing network capabilities, strategically planning capacity, and evaluating potential mergers and acquisitions while overseeing the integration of new technologies.

  • Providing technical expertise and guidance, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, government regulations, and customer specifications.

  • Proactively researching and implementing new technologies to drive business growth and efficiency.

  • Keeping abreast of industry trends through continued education and participation in seminars and trade shows.

  • Leading the execution of engineering projects and initiatives across multiple sites, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.

  • Generating capital equipment appropriations and managing expenditures to support process improvements.

  • Regularly updating senior management on project status, costs, and performance against targets.

  • Ensuring thorough documentation of all project activities and deliverables.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required, Master's/MBA/Ph.D. is preferred.

  • A minimum of 15 years of manufacturing, process engineering, supply chain and capital execution experience in Biopharmaceutical or other regulated industries is required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of Engineering Design (at an A&E firm) experience as a Process Engineer is required.

  • A minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience in manufacturing environment is required.

  • Hands on experience commissioning or qualifying manufacturing process equipment is required.

  • Ability to synthesize strategies, business needs, engineering elements, and technology inputs into data driven business solutions is required.

  • Strong Large Molecule Drug Substance process engineering expertise is required.

  • Large capital project management experience over $1 million is required. PMP is preferred.

  • Ability to synthesize strategies, business needs, engineering elements, and technology inputs into data driven business solutions is required.

  • Able to balance multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and communicate and operate with poise and integrity in a sophisticated, high-profile, and evolving environment is required.

  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English.

  • This position requires a minimum of 10% domestic and international travel, business needs could require up 50% domestic and international travel.

  • The primary work location is a hybrid remote and in office environment.
