Vontier Engineering Intern in Duncansville, Pennsylvania

THIS IS AN ON-SITE, PAID INTERNSHIP LOCATED IN ALTOONA, PA

The Engineering Intern is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. The Engineering Intern is responsible for evaluating and optimizing current and new processes to drive efficiencies in production in coordination with Manufacturing Engineer. They must design and implement manufacturing methods and processes that continually improve employee safety, product quality, and labor productivity goals and objectives for both new and existing products. Support daily production operations by applying engineering principles and troubleshooting skills to a diverse range of manufacturing processes, to maintain production flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create/Maintain Standard Work for Manufacturing cells.

  • Create/Maintain Job Safety Analysis for Manufacturing cell.

  • Address safety concerns within our Manufacturing cell.

  • Assists in developing justification of capital equipment.

  • Work with engineering, project teams, factory resources and key vendors to optimize the manufacturability of products.

  • Participate in cost-reduction activities, component evaluations, and other manufacturing initiatives to support continuous improvement.

  • Participates on or leads improvement workshops (Kaizens).

  • Trains and qualifies production operators ensuring that they can perform their job safely and meet product quality and labor productivity standards.

Background and Skills

  • Currently working towards an Electro-Mechanical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering Bachelor of Science degree

  • Electrical background and/or strong Electrical interest (Must Have)

  • Strong interpersonal skills (Must Have)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • 3-D printing preferred but not required

  • Use of SolidWorks preferred but not required
