In this position…

Ford is looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about occupant safety and has excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver Ford’s safety sensor system. Successful candidate will be part of Ford's safety attribute team working closely with multiple teams to deliver safety sensor calibrations that are used in Ford vehicles all over the world! You will part of a team that designs and implements customer-critical safety protection.

What you'll do…

  • Work with a cross functional team (including Safety Occupant Development engineers and Design & Release engineers) to develop sensing and control algorithms/calibrations to ensure occupant performance meets safety requirements.

  • Develop and implement process improvements on internal and external processes to reduce prototype utilization.

  • Provide trade-off studies for airbag deployment strategies of crash events during various stages of product development.

  • Perform data analysis on sensor signals, using Matlab and similar tools, to validate and develop the sensing system.

  • Support in vehicle level testing, including instrumentation preparation, crash barrier testing, and lab testing. Develop and deliver process improvements to the testing process.

  • Manage multiple complete safety sensor calibration projects from concept to product to deliver fully validated and signed off calibrations for vehicle programs.

  • Manage supplier interface through the life of a calibration project.

You'll have...

Minimum

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent

  • Able to handle multiple tasks with understanding of priority

  • Problem solver

  • Able to author and improve specifications and process documentation

  • Ability to drive a car for vehicle level testing - REQUIRED

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to demonstrate key points quickly and concisely

  • Capacity to adapt to a dynamic working environment

  • Experience Required:

  • Automotive OEM, Supplier or similar

Even better, if you have …

Preferred

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering

  • Matlab

  • Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in Automotive Safety (occupant, structure, crash sensors, crash testing)

  • Experience in Vehicle Restraints

  • Experience in restraints electronic controls
