Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse laborer is responsible for all duties assigned and to receive, move and load plumbing equipment, supplies and other items in a timely, efficient and safe manner.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

These include the following duties; however, other duties may be necessarily performed:

 

  • Receive materials from trucks and transport to storage areas
  • Manually move material from storage areas to loading dock
  • Pack or load material by hand
  • Keep a record of the material they move
  • Use signals to assist machine operators who are moving larger pieces of material
  • Utilize inventory bar code equipment
  • Load material properly into delivery vehicles
  • Responsible for assuring loading orders are completed accurately
  • Keep track of the product with a hand-held scanner, to ensure proper delivery
  • Ensure a clean and orderly workplace
  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
  • Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries
  • Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions
  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
  • Safely load and unload trucks
  • Deliver materials, equipment and other miscellaneous items to the various specified locations
  • Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition
  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

 

Education and Experience:

A high school or equivalent is required. Moving Machine (Fork Lift) certification is required

 

Knowledge of: Safety (OSHA) regulations, Hazardous regulations, plumbing equipment recognition and proper utilization

 

Skill in: Verbal and written communication, taking direction, receiving and distributing messages accurately and promptly, gross and fine motor skills

 

Ability to: Communicate in a clear, concise and effective manner, record, retrieve and distribute cargo in an effective manner, manage time effectively, work well with others, work independently, establish and set work priorities and finish jobs on a timely basis.

 

Physical demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to operate various machines including motorized equipment, use hands, handle objects, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee is required to walk, stoop, kneel, talk and hear, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions, work outdoors---regardless of weather and climate.
