Senior Engineering Manager (M5), Inertial Systems - Cheshire, CT

General Responsibility:

  • Manage a multi disciplined team of engineers working sustaining, NPI and Materials and processes.

  • Role requires an onsite presence and the ability to manage you own time as well as the teams to focus the daily work to achieving the end company needs in a timely and budget-controlled state.

  • Reporting into the Engineering Director

Specific Responsibilities:

Team Management

  • Provide leadership and mentoring as required to team members.

  • Management of a two site team (Vergennes and Cheshire)

  • Provide career guidance and direction as required.

  • Provide input to the engineering and site risk registers.

  • Development of Skills Matrices for all team members.

  • Conduct timecard reviews and sign weekly.

  • Establishing IWA for external support (obsolescence- VT example)

Function management

  • Resource demand planning.

  • Hiring to meet site demand as well as outsourcing to meet support for external support.

  • Support M&P sustaining needs – Hire to support growth.

  • Support Vergennes hiring needs.

  • Manage and develop three budgets- Vergennes and two in Cheshire (720 and 716)

  • Manage development of NRE/CFE planning to support growth on an annual basis.

  • Drive eCAR submittals for annual budgeting purposes.

  • Audit support – Design engineering, Obsolescence, Config (as needed)

  • Be focal for ongoing program support and sustaining needs.

  • Provide inputs to BMW and PARS as required.

  • Be a CORE champion.

  • Manage the shared drive access as well as access to engineering SharePoint site.

Support to other business functions

  • Attend daily Tier Meetings

  • Chair the Configuration Control board (approval authority)

  • Liaise with supply chain and Contracts, operations and VSL.

  • Support on site staff supervised external but intrinsic to Cheshire (Drafting, configuration)

  • Support development of new products and introduction into production.

  • Guide document preparation (PCN, EWR, ECP)

  • Manage supplier support for ongoing in development programs.

  • Assist to manage issues associated with Supplier quality.

  • Provide engineering input to Bid and proposals.

  • Complete Complexity matrices to support Bid and proposals.

  • Assist in Development of financial inputs to bids.

  • Provide support to EHS as required.

Other duties

  • Manage development of cost associated with new product.

  • Provide historical support knowledge on product design challenges.

  • Lead special project as required to meet business objectives.

  • REAch Management

  • Obsolescence Management

  • Gidep Management

  • PCAT

  • REACH

  • NADCAP

  • SRM P07 order of engineer PO products.

Qualifications / Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

  • Experience and familiarity working w/ Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), spinning mass gyroscopes and similar products

  • The ability to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
