Responsibilities

Otis’s Service Center is seeking a swing shift supervisor for its warehouse. This position is responsible for managing the warehouse(s) at the Otis Elevator facility located in Bloomfield, CT. Primary responsibilities include creating a safety, ethical, and inclusive culture, enforcing safety and company policies, establishing work schedules, driving performance and meeting department performance metrics, resolving customer requests and issues, ensuring staff development through cross training, and promoting continuous improvements through aggressive use of quality principles, tools and techniques. The ideal candidate must have experience in leading a teams in a collaborative environment. The position will also require performance of administrative and other duties, including assisting with the direct labor staff functions. The swing shift hours are 12 pm – 8:30 pm, daily.

Essential Responsibilities:

Following all EH&S and safety policies and procedures

Material handling of a variety of components, packaging materials and equipment in support of the Maintenance and Modernization businesses

Maintaining inventory, such as the storage of electronic parts

Shipping outside of the facility

Ability to obtain and retain a valid PIV license, inspect, maintain, and train employees on PIV operations.

Actively participate in daily housekeeping and 5S activities.

Performing other duties as assigned

Physical Demand:

If an item weighs more than 50 lbs., the employee must ask for assistance in lifting and/or use the appropriate crane, forklift or other lifting devises. This role requires walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning, bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching above shoulder height, reaching forward, lifting (maximum 50 pounds), carrying, pushing/pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, and seeing (with color vision) depth perception. Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment used includes but not limited to hard hat, gloves, hard shoes and safety goggles.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or high school education with equivalent relevant work experience.

Experience/Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years’ experience supervising hourly employees. Prior warehouse experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated commitment to safety policies and processes. Ability to lead and motivate a team. Ability to establish performance metrics. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to translate specific department and broader organizational goals and objectives to the workforce. Candidate should have a working knowledge of the inventory management and warehouse management systems, plus various Microsoft software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. The position requires extensive teamwork and organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Ability to adhere to Otis’ Absolutes of Safety, Ethics and Quality required. Must be able to participate in annual inventory and weekend work when requested.
